This year the halibut season opens in Port Angeles on the first
of May. May is an exceptional month for fishing,
which culminates in the annual Port Angeles Halibut Derby over
the Memorial Day weekend. After the derby the halibut fishing
tends to wind down in the Port Angeles area, just as it is
picking up in the Sekiu area west of Port Angeles. So starting
the first of June we move our operation west to Sekiu, which is
about an hour west of Port Angeles. This year we will start
fishing out of Sekiu on June 3rd. At that time the halibut
fishing is coming on strong, plus we can also fish for
bottomfish and Dungeness crab (which opens in mid-June). It
makes for a very active day on the water, great for hardcore
fishermen and novices alike, and especially fun for kids. There
is also plenty to see with the pristine coastal scenery and
various forms of wildlife in the area. There is something for
everyone to enjoy.
This year we will be booking trips by
the boat. The cost for the boat is remains the same as last
year, $552.84 including tax, for
up to three adults. When you book a reservation we will
request a $185 deposit to hold your date, payable by check or
money order. Once the deposit is received we will send you a
confirmation letter with information about your fishing trip and
what you'll need to know to be prepared to go.
